Our Story

Insight IT Consulting was founded to deliver secure, scalable, and mission focused IT solutions to the organizations that serve the public good. With over 40 years of leadership experience, particularly within the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), we help agencies modernize systems, strengthen cybersecurity, and improve program delivery. Rooted in technical expertise and a commitment to impact, we support our clients through cloud transformation, system integration, and strategic advisory services that drive real results.

Founder & Managing Partner

Eric Colombel

A veteran IT leader with over 20 years of experience supporting federal agencies with secure, mission-focused solutions. As founder of Insight IT Consulting and former CISO at AHRQ, he brings deep expertise in cybersecurity, cloud modernization, and IT program management. Eric holds certifications including CISSP, CISM, CDPSE, PMP, and COR Level III, and is dedicated to helping public and private sector clients deliver results through scalable, secure technology.

Managing Partner

Tim Erny

A seasoned IT executive with 25+ years of experience driving digital transformation and modernization across federal agencies. As former CIO and CTO at AHRQ, he led enterprise IT strategy, cloud adoption, Zero Trust implementation, and managed a large portfolio of mission-critical programs. Tim holds certifications including PMP, CISM, CIPP/G, CIPM, CDPSE, and COR Level III, and is committed to delivering customer-focused solutions and driving innovation through secure, scalable technology.

As former CIO and CISO at AHRQ, the executive team led enterprise digital strategy, IT integration, and cybersecurity strategy, while also overseeing IT governance, budget and acquisition management, cloud modernization, and data management initiatives
